We have a resident Dog Trainer and Canine behaviourist Ruth Banham . Ruth is passionate about dogs having trained and worked alongside them for more years than she would like us to mention and she also runs her own rescue dog sanctuary and trains and re-homes unwanted dogs. All training at Waggy is positive reinforcement, we have a no force policy which applies throughout all of our services.
The courses we currently offer are
Waggy Workshop, Tuesday 6.30pm - 7.30pm £18.00 per dog.
An hour group session dealing each week with a particular issue. This changes every week on a 5 week rota and you and your dog, can book and attend the session that you need help and guidance with. No commitment of a course or hefty price tag, however you do need to book and pay in advance. The weeks topics which are dealt with are as follows:-
Week 1. Barking
Week 2. Jumping up and stealing
Week 3. Recall
Week 4. Lead walking
Week 5. Destruction and Chewing

Private one to one training, Tuesdays 7.45pm - 8.45pm £35 for the session
Book Ruth all for yourself in order to deal with a specific issue not covered by any other classes available, or for that extra learning and support. Ruth specialises in dogs who display nerves or aggression and reintegrating them and teaching them to be able to socialise, or dogs who need a new form of communication with their owners due to deafness or blindness. Any issue can be addressed and no dog is beyond help.
Rowdy Rover, Wednesdays 6.30 - 7.30pm £85 per dog
No dog is too old to learn and here at Waggy we often teach an old dog new tricks!
Rowdy Rover is a 6 week course, the course covers all general basic adult dog training, dog manners and etiquette. A little bit of learning will be repaid by your Rowdy Rover with a lifetime of having a well behaved obedient dog! Content includes, Basic commands, sit, stay, down, leave, lead walking, recall, jumping up, barking and general doggy manners and obedience.
Waggy Rescue Rehabilitation Class, Wednesday 7.45pm - 8.30pm £15 per session
A unique and special course specifically for dogs that have been re-homed with new owners. The course is a group session and you can attend as often or as little as you like and it focuses on dogs that have been abandoned, mistreated, suffered trauma or stressed. This includes rescue dogs, puppy farm rescues, abused dogs and those that have been raised and then abandoned. The course offers support and help for dogs who need that extra training and is designed to help building positive relationships with new families. Help teach the dog to settle and deal with eliminating stress factors and build trust and for new owners to recognise stress signals in their dog and coping strategies. Places need to be booked in advance.
Waggy New Recruits, Puppy Training classes, Saturday 09.00am - 09.45am £75 per puppy (6 week course)
This comprehensive programme has been carefully designed to take you and your puppy through all the obedience basics giving you a god foundation for life with your new puppy and skills for becoming an adult dog, whilst keeping their charm and individuality. Puppies can enrol and start their training at 11 weeks providing they have had all their injections, and the maximum age is up to 20 weeks. The course covers dog manners and etiquette, Biting/mouthing, lead walking, recall, basic commands such as sit, down, leave, Handling by others and jumping.
